Fondazzjoni Wens has a new residential home at Fgura. The organisation was set up 22 years ago, and as a foundation 10 years ago, to provide residential opportunities for people with disabilities who do not have a home.
Minister for Justice, Dialogue and the Family Chris Said was given a tour of the new home in Fgura today. He said the foundation is benefitting from €160,000 in grants from the government. It is receiving an additional €20,000 to help its residents obtain the necessary skills to lead an independent life. The foundation also receives help from other entities such as the Malta College for Art, Science and Technology, Malta Charities and the Housing Authority.
Minister Said said that the Ministry has commissioned a study to find out what services can be provided within the community so that people with disabilities can obtain the best possible services within their localities.

Tine Rapinet and Madeleine Hladnik are very good friends of our Foundation, they represent The Malta Charities in UK. They do sterling work in raising money to help numerous entities/organisations in Malta. We are very lucky to have such people doing their utmost to raise much needed funds which we need to help our disabled friends. Ms Hladnik visited one of our apartments in Paola and spent some time in the company of the residents. On behalf of her organization she presented a nice donation for a project that we are planning to initiate in the coming months. I wish to thank the committee of The Malta Charities UK for the many times they have responded to my appeals of help.
